Hubble’s Heritage Team stitched together six pictures of the Sombrero Galaxy (Messier 104 or M 104) to make a stunning composite image. The galaxy’s hallmark is a brilliant white, bulbous core encircled by the thick dust lanes comprising the spiral structure of the galaxy. Xray emission suggests there is material falling into a compact core, where a 1-billion-solar-mass black hole resides.
